Package Leak Tester
Nondestructive, flexible testing of
nonporous medical device packages
can be performed with a system that
produces quantitative test results
from packages that cannot be
pressurized through an access port.
The TME Solution-C test system
combines the sensitivity of pressure-or vacuum-decay leak testing with
the simplicity of sealed fixtures and
is capable of detecting holes as small
as 5 μm in diameter. It employs a
proprietary chamber design to find
leaks in product seals or walls and
the seals of such common packaging
materials as films, foils, and
laminates; in addition, it can test for
leaks in pouches, induction-welded
bottle seals, and blister cards. An
instrument that offers high resolution
of 0.0001 psi or 0.01 mbar/sec, the
tester comes with fixtures custom-
the ytterbium-fiber, Nd: YVO4, and
Nd: YAG lasers, the near infrared
of the FAP laser, the green output
of frequency-doubled solid-state
lasers, and the ultraviolet output of
the frequency-tripled vanadate laser.
Various available configurations
of lasers and optics provide such
designed to maximize test sensitivity
for a specific product or package,
interchangeable fixture inserts to
accommodate packages of various
sizes, and a touch screen control that
allows for storage of 100 linkable
programs and 5000 test results. It
can be supplied as a pressure-decay,
vacuum-decay, or pressure/vacuum-decay leak tester.
