Mold-Flow Analysis
A company offers mold-flow analysis
that enables the simulation and
testing of parts, ensuring that they
meet all specification and functional
requirements before the final
mold is cast. Simulation predicts
flow progression and the behavior
of thermoplastic melts, allowing
injection molders to determine
whether the mold will fill properly.
This process allows designers to refine
parts and molds, modify materials,
and alter processing conditions.
Efficiency analysis of the mold’s
cooling system enables users to
design parts and molds that achieve
uniform cooling with minimal cycle
times. Analysis also predicts where
shrinkage and warpage in injection-molded plastic parts are most likely
to occur, enabling manufacturers
to optimize design, material, and
processing parameters. In addition,
mold-flow analysis for thick parts
helps solve multidirectional flow
issues associated with molten plastic.

Linear Indexing Drive
Available in seven sizes to meet axial
thrust requirements from 22 to 450
lb, an indexing drive is a backlash-free alternative for linear motion
systems. The inner race of the rolling
ring bearings of the Amacoil/Uhing
RS indexing drive is in constant
point contact with the shaft. There is
no play or free movement between
the shaft and the bearings, ensuring
that when the shaft rotates, the
rotary motion input is immediately
converted into linear output, including
during reversal. Equipped with a
smooth shaft, the drive does not have
threads that can trap debris and
cause clogs or jams, providing built-in overload protection. If the system
becomes overloaded, the nut will
slip or jam, thereby protecting drive
system components from damage
resulting from churning and grinding.
The drives are available in five
different linear-pitch settings. Drive
accuracy is dependent on the type of
controls used.

Grommet Enclosures
A manufacturer of solenoid valves
and process control valves has
released a grommet coil enclosure
for the Series 204 (two-way) and
the Series 304 (three-way) solenoid
valves, normally closed and normally
open valves that can operate under
maximized pressure ratings. Used
in medical device manufacturing,
the family of direct-acting solenoid
valves is used for air, liquid, and light
oil applications. Small and powerful,
the Class F grommet enclosures
are part of a conventional coil
construction, which includes a taped
and wrapped coil, two-wire 18-in.
leads, and tab and integrated coils.
The interchangeable tab coil has ac
and dc coils for flexible production
arrangements, while the integrated
coil features a rotating conduit hub
for easy installation. Overall, the
construction has a standard 100%
continuous-duty rating up to 155°C.
Additionally, both the 204 and 304
series have a high-temperature,
watertight coil design to meet
demanding environmental conditions.
The encapsulated watertight design
is available as a modular coil or as a
fully assembled valve.
